Can We Link to Files

I am looking for a way to link to photographs (in the cloud) via my computer
connected to the Internet. ... For example, in a cell in Numbers I want to link
pictures to something I have. I am trying to inventory my things in a spreadsheet
(Numbers in this case) to be able to pull up a picture of what it is. I understand
or heard Microsoft Excel does or will allow this, even to the disk drive it is
run on.
So now I am trying to see if I can do it in the cloud or on line.
