Rclone and Restic backups

Post by rxdjunk » Fri Feb 16, 2024 11:15 am

Wanted to let all know the performance/speed I get as of this morning when I tested my free account. These tests will confirm if I need to purchase a larger storage plan. Thought these stats may help the community here.
I have a 1Gbps Internet connection and I get close to 980Mbps majority of the times.

Rclone Encrypted/Restic backup timings (mins:secs)
---------------------------------------------------
Backup Upload, 16.079 GiB - 11:04
Check integrity on 16GB (270 packs) = 3:34
Restored 3 files/dirs (16.079 GiB) = 3:42

Backup/Upload speed = 24.8MB/sec
Restore/Download Speed = 72MB/sec

Here are the TCP connections from my device to Blomp during the 16GB download session. I am just worried that the dependency is on just one or 2 FQDNs, which may have a potential of becoming a single point of failure.
Not sure where the blomp storage is hosted at (regions, countries etc). Not worried about the data security as of yet.

Hello Blomper,

I hope you are having a wonderful day. :)
Here is the answer from the tech team regarding your FQDNs concern.

"With respect to FQDNs, Blomp is accessible via Rclone via multiple FQDNs for reliability, but we don’t advertise them unless there is a failure."

If you have more questions or concerns feel free to contact us.

We are here to help.

Kind Regards,
- Blomp support
