Upload speed is very slow

Post by thien_an » Sat Jun 26, 2021 12:41 am

Dear Everyone,

Please help guide me how to increase uploading speed. I try to upload a file with 1GB capacity and it takes 20s in other cloud drives, but takes more than 10 minutes in Blomp.

Thank you

I have 50Mbit Upload with my connection and it maxes it out, no drops at all, one needs to mention that I am connected as addition over vpn:

Code: Select all

Device wg0 [10.13.91.129] (3/4):

Incoming: Avg: 1.58 MBit/s

You did not say which software you use, BlompLive, BlompGo or rclone? I consider you are in US or Europe, from there connections to blomp servers should be good, I tested several locations worldwide and I did not get into performance issues unless with multiple transfers where at least one of them goes with 20Kb/s, the rest goes normal, I experienced this sometimes when I uploaded single file, but normally waiting 10-20 seconds and restarting upload gets it back to 6Mbit.

Thank you Debian,

I am from Vietnam. I tried to use both browser and PC application to upload, both results are slow.
Let me try to use VPN and use some servers in US or Europe.

Regards

You are welcome, I tried vpn from location around you and it seems to work, before you pay for vpn, test which one works best for you and dont really trust online reviews, almost all are paid reviews, if you want I can give you access to one 10G server in germany for free for few days, but better get account at some cheap vpn provider, however, before spending money make sure you need it, as without vpn it should work too and if there is some gov based blocking involved then not many but few vpn providers can help you. As I do not want to promote any vpn here on blomp forum, I will refrain from posting my recommendation, but you can write me pm if you want.

Maybe before getting into vpn you can wait a day or so, maybe blomp did some maintenance on the backend as well as @BlompTeam might reply here too.

Hope that helps.

We tripled the capacity of our backend in the last week or so...

Perhaps you can share the first part of your IP address (xxx.xxx.xxx.) so we can see if there are any issues between you and us.

thanks!

Dear Debian,

I have an unlimited VPN bought from Avira bundle. I will try it and let you know the result.

Thanks for your advice

You are welcome, I still hope that it works for you without vpn too, as then it should work pretty well via vpn too. But as you say you have VPN, then this is very good, because it adds some layer of security and as blomp is very basic in that regard it is only good if your connection is encrypted. For vpn usage, you do not neet stealth protocols to get around chinese firewall, use wireguard protocol if avira offers it, if not, then as free/bundled it is ok, but only with wireguard you will have no loss compared to what your isp offers.

Dear Debian,

I tried to use VPN to connect to both US and Europe servers but it no help. The speed is still slow.
I think Blomp team is checking it and hope they can improve the situation.

Thank you.

I am sorry to hear that it is not working, are you sure that your ISP provides proper performance? What happens when you run speedtest, which upload speed do you get in average using different hosts close to you? I just tried Taiwan (Taipei) and Thailand (Bangkok), both work as they should, it is not Vietnam but still closer to you than the EU/US.
